MarLin - Market Link Hub
Market data as a basis for sound decisions
Market data is the backbone of companies in the energy sector and many other industries. It forms the basis for strategic decisions, pricing, marketing, billing, and risk assessment. epWare MarLin ensures that this data is centrally located, structured, and available at all times.
Various types of market data
Market data encompasses a wide variety of data sources, including forecasts for energy demand, wind and solar production, and price forecasts for various materials and commodities. These are supplemented by actual values and exchange settlement prices.

Challenge: Many providers, many formats
The market for market data is characterized by a multitude of specialized providers. Each offers their data in proprietary file formats such as CSV, Excel, HTML, or text, and via various access protocols like email, FTP, SFTP, or web interfaces. This diversity significantly complicates the centralized use and further processing of the data.
Central consolidation with epWare MarLin
epWare MarLin helps companies consolidate all these data providers and formats. Using powerful connectors, MarLin connects directly to the data providers' interfaces, imports the time series, and makes them available in a structured and standardized way at a central location.
Access for all relevant departments
Employees from different departments can access and process the data series according to their permissions. Access is either via a graphical user interface or directly through Excel and Microsoft Power BI.
Standard connectors to leading data providers
MarLin already has standard connectors to leading market data providers in the energy industry, including:
EpexSpot, EEX, ECB, ICE, Reuters PointConnect (fundamental data), Refinitiv DataScope Select, Volue Insight, Argus, ProCom, DWD and other providers.
Advanced analytics and automation
Data analysts can create Python models in MarLin that are executed automatically, either on a schedule or when data series change. This allows for the efficient generation of new time series, analyses, or reports.
Working efficiently with Excel
An integrated Excel plugin enables the automation of daily workflows. Reports, analyses, and overviews can be created quickly and easily using formulas.
Seamless system integration via APIs
Existing systems can be directly connected to MarLin via a REST API. This ensures that up-to-date data series are always available for further processes without any media breaks.
Analysis, reporting and data export
For analysis and reporting, MarLin also offers the open OData (Open Data Protocol) interface. This allows applications such as Microsoft Power BI to directly access the data series. Furthermore, MarLin supports custom data exports for specific requirements.
